Tamil Nadu State Aids Control Society (TANSACS) partners CHARDEP in running a Community Care Centre (CCC) for People living with HIV/AIDS (PLHA)
PLHA require a range of services including care, treatment and support depending on the progression and stage of the infection. The progression of the infection and consequent weakening of the immune system will result in PLHA being vulnerable to various Opportunistic Infections (OI). By way of attending to these ailments and ensuring adherence to antiretroviral therapy, CHARDEP started this Community Care Centre on 8th April 2009 to provide a holistic health care and support in a conducive environment to the PLHA. The Centre establishes a two-way linkage with ART Centres, serves as a short stay home and functions as a bridge between home and hospital care.
CCC Features:
The Centre is staffed by a project coordinator, a counselor, two medical doctors, three nurses, an administrator, a cook and a janitor.
The centre has spacious rooms and adequate facilities for the resident PLHA as well as for outpatients.
