The Government of Tamil Nadu is being aided by the World Bank for the  Tamil Nadu Health Systems Project. It is  being implemented in a period of 5 years from the year 2005. The main goal of the project is to improve the health outcomes of the people of Tamil Nadu, especially the poor and the disadvantaged.

An Emergency Ambulance Service is being implemented to strengthen emergency health care in rural areas. A fully equipped ambulance has been provided to CHARDEP and stationed at the Government Hospital, Karungal. Carried out with a view to assisting the public in need of urgent medical attention, who require to be taken immediately to hospitals, one of the main objectives of this project is to improve maternal care, especially emergency delivery in rural areas. People can call up the ambulance from anywhere in Killioor block to avail of its service, which includes the attention of a trained ambulance nurse in addition to speedy transportation to medical care facilities.

Patients Counselling Centre

A counseling centre for the patients and their families has been established by CHARDEP at the Government Hospital, Seynamvilai, Kanyakumari district. The counselling center is manned by 3 counselors round the clock in turns, to provide necessary counselling support to the poor illiterate patients and delivery cases attending the hospital.
