Tamilnadu Corporation for Development of Women Ltd, is supporting CHARDEP in various activities for the empowerment of women. Women from nine blocks and four municipalities of Kanyakumari District have been organized into 1,025 Self Help Groups. 17,000 women have been thus organized so far. They are being given trainings on dealership, entrepreneurial development, and skill development so that they are qualified to under take income generation on their own. CHARDEP has assisted them to open bank accounts in their names and to undertake regular savings.

A staggering amount of 10.4 crore rupees has been saved by them. They are also helped to avail loans for income generation purposes. 905 SHGs have so far availed a total credit of rupees 27.2 crore rupees for micro enterprises. SHG meetings are also utilized to provide women awareness on other issues such as HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, nutrition and womens rights.
